Matt Turner backstopped the U.S. Men's National Team to a vital 1-0 win over El Salvador on Thursday night at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio, pushing the Americans one step closer to qualifying for next winter's FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The U.S. now has 18 points from nine games (5-1-3), second in Concacaf qualifying behind Canada (5-0-4, 19 pts.), who they'll visit on Sunday afternoon.

Turner officially wasn't forced to make a save in earning his 10th clean sheet with the USMNT in just his 14th appearance at the international level. The 27-year-old New England Revolution goalkeeper improves to 11-1-2 with the Stars and Stripes, having made his debut almost exactly one year ago - January 31, 2021.

Fulham defender Antonee Robinson scored the game's only goal in the 52nd minute, providing a calm finish following a scramble inside the box.

Sebastian Lletget, acquired by the Revolution via trade this past December, is also with the USMNT but wasn't part of Thursday night's matchday squad.

Turner and Lletget will now travel to Hamilton, Ontario, for Sunday's meeting with Canada and former Revolution winger Tajon Buchanan. That game kicks off at 3:05 p.m. ET with coverage on Paramount+ and NBC Universo. The USMNT will then return home to host Honduras on Wednesday, February 2, at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where temperatures are expected to be in the single digits. That game will be available on FS1, TUDN, and Univision (7:30 p.m. ET).
