FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution fell to the New York Red Bulls, 1-0, at Red Bull Arena on Sunday afternoon. Following a scoreless first half, New York tallied the lone goal with Bradley Wright-Phillips finishing his own rebound in the 55th minute.


Despite registering 13 shots, eight of which were recorded in the second half, the Revs couldn’t find the back of the net. On the other end of the field, Revolution goalkeeper Brad Knighton made three saves in his third consecutive League start. Revolution midfielder Kelyn Rowe led the team with three chances created, while a trio of players, Rowe, Kei Kamara, and Juan Agudelo, paced the Revs in shots with three.


The Revolution return to MLS action on Saturday, Sept. 3, when the club hosts the Colorado Rapids at Gillette Stadium for the first and only meeting between the two sides this season. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast locally on Comcast SportsNet with Brad Feldman and Paul Mariner calling the action. The game can also be heard locally on the radio on 98.5 The Sports Hub in English and on WMVX 1570 AM “Nossa Radio” in Portuguese.

Revolution Drop Second Meeting with Red Bulls

The Revolution fell to the New York Red Bulls, 1-0, bringing the club’s record to 6-12-9 (27 pts.) on the season.


The Revs concluded the 2016 regular season series against New York with a 1-1-0 record. The Revolution previously defeated New York at home on April 1, a 1-0 victory.


Rowe Posts Team-High Four Chances Created

Midfielder Kelyn Rowe led all Revolution players with four chances created in today’s contest. Rowe also recorded three shots, tying forwards Juan Agudelo and Kei Kamara for most shots of any Revolution player in the match.


This year, Rowe has created 38 chances, which trails only midfielder Lee Nguyen (62) and defender Chris Tierney (43) for most chances created by any Revolution player.


Revs Total 13 Shots, Eight in Second Half

The Revolution offense produced several scoring opportunities in the second half, totaling eight shots in the final 45 minutes. New England also totaled both of its shots on target in the second half.


Kamara, Rowe Make Milestone Appearances

By starting today’s match, forward Kei Kamara and midfielder Kelyn Rowe each eclipsed appearance milestones.


Kamara has now made 250 career MLS appearances. In his career the Revolution forward has scored 83 goals and recorded 31 assists in 250 appearances, including 203 starts, over 18,534 minutes.


Rowe has now made 150 career MLS appearances, all of which have come with the Revolution. The Revolution midfielder has tallied 25 goals and registered 28 assists in 150 appearances, including 115 starts, over 10,490 minutes.


Revolution Make Two Lineup Changes

Revolution Head Coach Jay Heaps made two changes to the starting lineup from New England’s most recent MLS match on Aug. 24 vs. San Jose. Defender José Gonçalves and forward Teal Bunbury replaced midfielder Diego Fagundez and forward Juan Agudelo, respectively.

  • 45th minute (CHANCE) – Chris Tierney sends a corner kick into the box, which is met by Kei Kamara, but the Revolution forward’s strike rises just over the crossbar.
