Youth Academy: u16 vs. Bolts | Oct 16

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy’s Under-18 and Under-16 teams were back in action this past weekend at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy’s Winter Showcase in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The U-18s played Real Salt Lake AZ on Thursday, Baltimore Armour on Saturday, and concluded against the Chicago Fire on Sunday. The U-16s played the Colorado Rapids on Friday, followed by the Dallas Texans on Sunday and the Houston Dynamo on Monday.


All four Academy teams have concluded the fall portion of the USSDA schedule. The U-16s will be back in action in February for three Generation adidas Cup East Regional Qualifying matches in Orlando, Fla., while the USSDA schedule will resume in March.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Forward Justin Rennicks '99 (South Hamilton, Mass.) recorded a brace, while midfielder Kevin Vang '00 (Cranston, R.I.) assisted both goals in the Under-18s’ 4-2 victory over Real Salt Lake AZ.
  • Midfielder Joe Brito '99 (Bolton, Conn.) posted two goals and three assists in three matches with the U-18s. Brito now has seven goals on the season.
  • Forward Tim Ennin'00 (East Hartford, Conn.) registered his first goal of the 2016-17 season in the Under-18s’ 4-2 victory over Real Salt Lake AZ. The forward now has eight career goals as a Revolution Academy player.
  • Goalkeeper Trey Miller '99 (Monson, Mass.)  recorded his second shutout of the season in the U-18s’ 3-0 win over the Chicago Fire. Miller previously recorded a shutout for the U-18s on Oct. 15 vs. Empire United.
  • Midfielder Trevor Burns '01 (Southborough, Mass.) and defender Marcelo Lage '00 (Wakefield, Mass.) notched their first goals of the 2016-17 season. Burns found the back of the net in the U-16s’ opener against the Colorado Rapids, while Lage notched his goal in the U-16s’ second match against the Dallas Texans.
  • Midfielder Isaac Angking '00 (Providence, R.I.) was unavailable for selection this past weekend due to being called in to the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team for the Nike International Friendlies. The U.S. U-17s claimed their first Nike International Friendlies title since 2013 with victories over Turkey, Portugal, and Brazil.
