FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy’s Under-18, Under-16, Under-14, and Under-13 teams were back in action this past weekend, with all four teams hosting matches. The Under-18s and Under-16s each played a pair of matches at East Providence High School, first against Cedar Stars Academy - Monmouth on Saturday, followed by Players Development Academy on Sunday. The Under-14s and Under-13s were also in action on Saturday, hosting FC Boston Bolts at Medway High School.
All four Revolution Academy teams return to the pitch this weekend. The Under-18s and Under-16s will travel north of the border to take on the Montreal Impact on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Under-14s and Under-13s will travel to Winston Salem, N.C. for the USSDA East Conference Showcase. The Under-14s are set to play the New York Red Bulls (Oct. 29), Chargers Soccer Club (Oct. 29), and D.C. United (Oct. 30), while the Under-13s will square off with D.C. United (Oct. 28), Capital Area RailHawks – CASL (Oct. 28), and the Philadelphia Union (Oct. 29).
On Sunday, Under-18 forward Justin Rennicks was named UnitedHealthcare Academy Player of the Year for his play during the 2015-16 Revolution Academy season. Rennicks has participated in a number of U.S. Youth National Team camps, and has also trained with the Revolution’s first team, including a week in Tucson, Ariz. during the 2016 MLS preseason. WEEK HIGHLIGHTS
- Midfielder Joe Brito '99 (Bolton, Conn.) registered three goals over the weekend for the Under-18s. Brito converted a pair of penalties within the final five minutes against Players Development Academy, leading the Under-18s to a 2-1 victory.
- Forward Felipe Vieira ’03 (Malden, Mass.) played up two age groups and recorded a goal for the Under-16s against Cedar Stars Academy – Monmouth. Vieira has now made appearances for the U16s, U14s, and U13s this season.
- Forward Gustavo Cassemiro '00 (Framingham, Mass.) and midfielder Nick Firmino ’00 (Somerville, Mass.) each recorded both a goal and an assist for the Under-16s over the weekend.
- Forward Alejandro Coury ’02 (Yarmouth, Maine) recorded his first goal, while midfielder Morris Matthews '03 (Cambridge, Mass.) posted his first assist in the Under-14s’ 4-1 win over FC Boston Bolts.
- Forward Brandonn Bueno '04 (Framingham, Mass.) scored a goal for a third consecutive match in the Under-13s’ 1-1 draw against FC Boston Bolts. Bueno now has seven goals on the season.
