Academy Update | Revs kick off 2019-20 USSDA season against Philadelphia

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy kicked off its fall season last weekend as all four teams played matches in Massachusetts. The Under-19s, Under-17s, and Under-15s faced the Philadelphia Union Academy in Lancaster, Mass, while the Under-14s faced Boston Bolts in Newton, Mass.


One Academy team will be in action next weekend on Saturday, Sept. 7. The U-14 team will travel to Mendon, Mass. to face NEFC, while the U-19s, U-17s, and U-15s will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 14 against Maryland’s Bethesda SC at Gillette Stadium.


WEEKHIGHLIGHTS


  • Midfielder Kaoru Fujiwara (Lexington, Mass.—2001) started and registered a brace in 69 minutes of action in the U-19s’ 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, Aug. 31 in Lancaster.
  • Midfielder Trevor Burns (Southborough, Mass.—2001) tallied a pair of assists in the U-19s’ 4-1 win.
  • Midfielder Tico Rivera (Cranston, R.I.—2002) started, played 90 minutes, and tallied a 64th-minute strike in the U-19s’ 4-1 win.  
  • Defender Colby Quinones (Bedford, N.H.—2003) scored a 68th-minute goal to seal the U-19s’ 4-1 victory.
  • Goalkeeper Nick Cardona (Boston, Mass.—2003) started and played 90 minutes in net in the U-19s’ 4-1 win on Saturday. Last season, Cardona made 13 appearances between the U-17 and U-19 teams.
  • Midfielder Noel Buck (Arlington, Mass.—2005) scored his first goal of the 2019-20 season in the U-15s’ 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Union.
