FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All five New England Revolution Academy teams were back in action last weekend to conclude the 2017-18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy regular season schedule. Each team hosted FC Westchester Armour on Saturday, June 2, while the U-15s played an additional match at Beachside SC on Sunday, June 3.
Four teams will still play matches this summer, prior to the start of the 2018-19 season. After finishing in third place in the East Conference's Northeast Division, the U-19s will head to San Diego for the U-19s USSDA Playoffs for matches beginning on June 18. The Revolution have been placed in Group D and are set to play Pateadores, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and Crew SC Academy Wolves in group stage matches. Meanwhile, the U-17s and U-15s will also head to San Diego, where they will compete in the USSDA Summer Showcase against opponents to be announced.
Finally, the U-14s will compete in the International U-14 Tournament, hosted by the Montreal Impact from June 28-July 1. The Revs have been placed in Group A and will play the Montreal Impact, Chicago Fire, and Houston Dynamo in group stage matches, which will be played on June 28 and June 29.
WEEK HIGHLIGHTS
- Midfielder Kevin Vang '00 (Cranston, R.I.) registered two goals and an assist for the U-19s in their 5-0 win over FC Westchester Armour. Goalkeepers Pat Quinn '00 (Manchester, N.H.) and Kevin Coffey '01 (Swampscott, Mass.) combined to record a shutout.
- Defender Nathan Metsack '01 (Ashford, Conn.) and midfielder Kaoru Fujiwara '01 (Lexington, Mass.) combined for the lone goal in the U-17s' 3-1 loss to FC Westchester Armour.
- Forward Andrew Serafino '03 (East Longmeadow, Mass.) closed out the Academy season by scoring his Revolution Academy-leading 20th goal of 2017-18.
- Midfielders Austin Bush '04 (Southampton, Mass.) and Dylan Henao '04 (Saugus, Mass.) tallied for the U-14s in their 2-1 win over FC Westchester Armour.
- Midfielders Jubril Bamgabala '05 (North Providence, R.I.) and Quinn Pappendick '05 (Cambridge, Mass.) combined for the former's first ever Revolution Academy goal and the latter's first ever Revolution Academy assist in the U-13s 2-2 draw with FC Westchester Armour.
