Academy Update: U19s, U17s, U13s all take down FC Boston Bolts

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy continued its fall season this weekend as all five teams returned to action. The Under-19s, Under-17s, and Under-15s hosted FC Boston Bolts at East Providence High School in East Providence, R.I. on Saturday, Sept. 15, and the Under-14s and Under-13s hosted the younger sides of FC Boston Bolts at Medway High School in Medway, Mass.


All five Academy teams will be in action next weekend on Saturday, Sept. 22. The U-14 and U-13 teams will travel to Mendon, Mass. to face New England FC in their third tests of the season, while the U-19s, U-17s, and U-15s will travel north of the border to Montreal, Quebec to face the Montreal Impact Academy for the group’s second road trip of the season. 


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • The U-19s defeated FC Boston Bolts, 3-0, thanks to a first-half brace from Elio Firmino (Somerville, Mass. – 2001). A late tally in the 77th minute from Academy newcomer Victor Viana (South Dennis, Mass. – 2001) sealed the victory for the U-19s. Goalkeeper Austin Causey (Groton, Mass. – 2001) played all 90 minutes to record his second shutout of the season.
  • Forward Oliver Martin (Burlington, Vt. – 2003) scored the U-17s’ lone goal in a 1-0 victory over FC Boston Bolts. Felipe Vieira (Malden, Mass. – 2003) was credited with the assist on the goal—his first of the season. Goalkeeper Nick Cardona (Roxbury, Mass. – 2003) made his first appearance and start of the season and tallied a shutout in the team’s second win of the campaign.
  • Midfielder Marco Dos Santos (Windham, N.H. – 2005) scored two goals in the U-14s’ 3-3 draw with FC Boston Bolts. Defender Samuel Carrias (Marlborough, Mass. – 2005) added a goal of his own off of Oscar Martinez’s (Revere, Mass. – 2005) second assist of the season in the 13th minute to give the Revs an early lead.
  • The U-13s finished the day with a 4-0 victory over FC Boston Bolts. Forward Benaiah Hanson (Loudon, N.H. – 2006) notched his second brace in one week after scoring his third and fourth goals of the season in the win. Jackson Akin (West Rutland, Vt. – 2006) added his third goal of the season in the win, while defender Luke Churchill (North Easton, Mass. – 2006) contributed his second assist of the season on Hanson’s opening strike in the 35th minute.
