Academy Update: Youth teams go 4-1-0 against BW Gottschee in Brooklyn

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. ā€“ The New England Revolution Academy continued its fall season this weekend as all five teams returned to action in New York City. The Under-19s, Under-17s, and Under-15s traveled to face BW Gottschee Academy in Brooklyn on Sunday, Sept. 30, and the Under-14s and Under-13s faced the younger sides of BW Gottschee Academy on Saturday afternoon in Flushing, N.Y.


Two Academy teams will be in action on the road in Philadelphia next weekend for the Generation adidas Cup Regional Tournament. The U-15 and U-17 teams will travel to Pennsylvania for the tournament hosted by the Philadelphia Union Academy at the Power Training Complex. Both teams kick off against Atlanta United FC on Friday, Oct. 5.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • The U-15s defeated BW Gottschee, 3-1, thanks to a hat trick from midfielder T.J. Liquori (Westfield, Mass.ā€”2004) in 51 minutes of action. Liquori now has five goals on the season. Forward Colin Hughes (Charlton, Mass.ā€”2004) registered two assists in 51 minutes of play in the victory.
  • Midfielder Elio Firmino (Somerville, Mass.ā€”2001) played all 90 minutes and recorded two assists in the U-19sā€™ 2-1 win over BW Gottschee on Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn, N.Y.
  • Forward Alex Parvu (Cumberland, R.I.ā€”2005) scored a 21st-minute goal, his fourth of the season and second in two games, in the U-14sā€™ 3-1 victory over BW Gottschee on Saturday afternoon. Midfielder Joe Buckley (Westwood, Massā€”2005) tallied his second assist of the season in the win.
  • Forward Andrew Serafino (East Longmeadow, Mass.ā€”2003) scored his second goal of the season in the U-17sā€™ 3-2 loss against BW Gottschee on Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn, N.Y.
  • The U-13s capped off Saturday with a 2-0 victory over BW Gottschee in Flushing, N.Y., lifted by a 30th-minute goal from forward Benaiah Hanson (Loudon, N.H.ā€”2006). Hanson now has six goals in four gamesā€”an Academy high. Goalkeepers Michael Delaney (Halifax, Mass.ā€”2006) and Sebastian Wraga (Springfield, Mass.ā€”2006) combined in net to record the teamā€™s third shutout of the season.
