FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Juan Agudelo and the U.S. Men’s National Team will continue their quest for regional supremacy on Wednesday night when they take on El Salvador in the quarterfinal round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, with coverage in English on FS1 and in Spanish on UniMas and UDN.
UPCOMING U.S. MEN’S NATIONAL TEAM SCHEDULE
The USMNT finished atop Group B with a record of 2-0-1 (7 pts.), beating out second-place Panama by virtue of the goals scored tiebreaker. After opening group play with a 1-1 draw against Panama, the U.S. followed up with wins over Martinique (3-2) and Nicaragua (3-0).
Agudelo appeared in all three group games, starting and playing 86 minutes against Martinique and appearing off the bench against Panama and Nicaragua. Those three appearances bring the 24-year-old’s career cap total up to 25.
Kelyn Rowe, meanwhile, started a pair of Gold Cup group games – plus the pre-tournament friendly against Ghana – and registered his first-ever goal and assist at the senior international level. Somewhat surprisingly, Rowe was one of six players released from the roster ahead of the knockout rounds.
“We’re excited to have him back and get him back in, but disappointed for him because I know it was a tough decision for the national team to let him come back,” said Revs head coach Jay Heaps. “But at the same time, we put him right to work.”
While disappointing, Rowe’s return does provide a boost to the Revs ahead of Saturday night’s meeting with the LA Galaxy at Gillette Stadium. That match kicks off at 7:30 p.m., and the action will be aired live on NBC Boston.
