Burns says Revs “still looking to make another move or two” in the coming weeks

TUCSON, Ariz. – Eight of the 25 players currently on the New England Revolution roster have been added within the past month-and-a-half as head coach Brad Friedel has shaped his first squad around a nucleus of talented returnees.

There is perhaps more change to come, however, as the Revs have both the budget space and the roster spots (including a pair of international spots) to make additional moves. When any further reinforcements could arrive remains to be seen, but there is hope that at least one new signing could be completed soon as the Revs work towards their season opener on March 3 in Philadelphia.

“We’re still looking to make another move – or two, possibly – in the next few weeks,” said General Manager Michael Burns, noting the roster compliance date of March 1. “We’re in a good position (in terms of roster compliance), but we’re also in a good position to add, which we’ll look to do.”

Friedel said he hopes to have at least one deal done and dusted by the early stages of the season, and noted another target that could perhaps arrive in the summer months.

In the meantime, Friedel is confident that the Revolution’s current squad – including newcomers Isaac Angking, Jalil Anibaba, Brandon Bye, Cristian Penilla, Nicolas Samayoa, Mark Segbers, Gabriel Somi and Wilfried Zahibo – is adapting well as he continues to implement a new system.
