FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Diego Fagundez is expected to be “in the mix” for Saturday night’s meeting with the Montreal Impact after the New England Revolution winger missed last weekend’s 4-0 win over Orlando City SC with a right quad strain.
Fagundez sustained the injury early last week and although he pushed to be ready for Orlando he was ultimately held out, missing just his second game in the past two years.
“I don’t think he could’ve played (against Orlando),” head coach Jay Heaps said of Fagundez. “It would have put him at more risk of injury.”
As the Revs prepare to host the Impact on Saturday night they’ll continue to weigh that risk for Fagundez, who returned to most team activities during Tuesday morning’s training session.
“We feel like he’ll be in the mix,” Heaps said, “but we have to be cautious with him.”
