FRISCO, Texas – The New England Revolution suffered their fourth consecutive league defeat on Saturday night, falling 3-0 to FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Mauro Diaz had a goal and an assist for the home side, who also got second half strikes from Fabian Castillo and Michael Barrios to send the Revs to their fifth defeat in their last six league games and fifth straight in all competitions. New England is now 6-8-6 on the season for 24 points, leaving them tied with Columbus Crew SC and Oralndo City SC for second place in the Eastern Conference.
FC Dallas went in front in the ninth minute, with the first clear chance of the game. Mauro Diaz was fouled just outside the New England penalty are and on the ensuing free kick, Diaz hit a low, right-footed shot underneath the wall and past the dive of Bobby Shuttleworth, giving the home side a 1-0 lead.
Lee Nguyen had the Revs’ lone chance of the opening 45 minutes, seeing his right-footed shot from 20 yards saved by FC Dallas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, but New England came out the brighter of the two sides after the break. Charlie Davies had a close range shot snuffed out by Kennedy following a Kevin Alston cross just minutes into the second half.
Despite the Revs early advantage after the break, FC Dallas would double their lead in the 64^th minute when Fabian Castillo scored his team-best seventh goal of the season. Mauro Diaz broke free down the right flank before cutting the ball back to the on-rushing Castillo, whose right-footed shot from the center of the box was saved by Shuttleworth. However, the rebound to deflect off Jeremy Hall and right back to Castillo, who slotted his shot into the net, making the score 2-0 in favor of FC Dallas.
Dallas would add a third goal nine minutes later when Diaz slid a pass through the Revolution defense for Michael Barrios, who slid his shot underneath the dive of Shuttleworth for the first goal of his MLS career, making the score 3-0.

• With the loss, the Revolution are now 6-8-6 for 24 points on the season. They have lost their last four games in the league, but remain in second place in the Eastern Conference, tied with Columbus Crew SC and Orlando City SC.
• New England is now just 1-5-0 in MLS play since the start of June and they have lost their last five games in all competitions.
• This was the 17^th time in 20 years in which the Revs had played on the Fourth of July, with 15 of those coming on the road. New England is now 5-7-5 all-time on Independence Day, including 3-7-5 on the road.
• Saturday night’s game was the Revs’ final road game of the year against the Western Conference. They finish the season 1-4-0 on the road against the West, beating Colorado while losing to Seattle, Sporting Kansas City, Portland and FC Dallas.
• With one game remaining against the West this season (August 15 vs. Houston), the Revs are 3-5-1 against the opposite conference this season.
• Revolution head coach Jay Heaps made one change to the team that lost 2-1 at home last weekend to Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Kevin Alston returned to the starting lineup in place of Andrew Farrell, who was suspended for the game after being sent off against the Whitecaps.
• Alston was making the 145^th appearance of his Revolution career in the game.
• In addition to Farrell, the Revs were also without Darrius Barnes and Jermaine Jones who each missed the game because of injury.
• FC Dallas took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute whne Mauro Diaz hit a free kick under the Revolution wall and into the net, past the dive of Bobby Shuttleworth. That goal was the second goal allowed by the Revs directly from a free kick this season, and the first since April 19 when Cristian Maidana gave the Philadelphia Union a 1-0 lead at PPL Park.
• After scoring first in 10 of 11 games between April 25 and June 24, the Revs have now fallen behind 1-0 inside the opening 20 minutes of each of their last two games.
