Get to Know Revolution II | Orlando Sinclair

Orlando Sinclair Revolution II

After spending 2019 with Loudoun United in the USL Championship, Costa Rican striker Orlando Sinclair will remain in the United States to join the Revolution II attack. The Deportivo Saprissa loanee is a talent on the rise, and his time in his first preseason with Revolution II has already turned some heads. Here’s a closer look at the 22-year-old forward:

1. Close to Home

Sinclair began playing for the Deportivo Saprissa Academy at age 10, spending a decade in the club’s development system before making his first team debut in 2018. Sinclair developed into a striker early in his youth career and received call-ups to several Costa Rica youth national team camps. He continues to work towards his dream of one day representing his native country with the senior national team.

2. Debut-tiful

After rising through the youth ranks, Sinclair appeared in his first game with the Saprissa first team on October 4, 2018 against C.F. Universidad. He saw eight minutes of action as a second-half substitute, and was able to score his first career goal only four minutes into the debut with a right-footed strike to seal the 4-0 victory. Sinclair celebrated by racing home to give his mother a hug as a way to thank her for supporting his dream.

3. New in Town

The 2020 season will mark Sinclair’s third season on loan from Saprissa, and his second in the United States. He spent much of the 2018 season with C.S. Uruguay in the Costa Rican second division before moving to Loudoun United, D.C. United’s affiliate in the USL Championship, for the 2019 season. Sinclair played five different positions over 24 appearances with Loudoun, scoring three goals. He even featured twice for D.C. United in friendly matches.

4. Future in Mind

Although his professional career is just beginning, Sinclair keeps one eye on the future and remains committed to pursuing his education. He has studied business administration and maintains a keen interest in economics and investing, all disciplines he counts as top career choices for his post-playing career. According to Sinclair, he isn’t one to rush his life away, but it’s always important to be prepared for the next step.
