Despite suffering their first defeat at Gillette Stadium this season, the Revolution should hold their heads high marching into the World Cup break. This Sunday, a crowd of 23,950 turned out to watchRevs take on the New York Red Bulls.  It was the seventh largest standalone Revolution game attendance in Gillette Stadium history.

The Revs’ fast-paced attack featuring a handful of young stars, has sparked interest in local soccer fans and sports fanatics from all over New England. Flocks of diehard fans and newcomers filling the parking lots and stands of Gillette Stadium suggest the Revs’ are becoming the new ‘Boys of Summer’ in New England. Christopher Gasper’s piece in Monday’s Boston Globe details the rebirth of soccer in New England, including insight into the future of the Revolution from owner/investor Jonathan Kraft.

In his third season in MLS, Kelyn Rowe has shown he has what it takes to earn his spot on the field, and in the hearts of Revolution fans. Entering Sunday’s game as a second half substitute, Rowe energized the crowd and provided a boost to the New England attack. In his most recent piece in the Boston Herald, John Connolly caught up with Rowe to discuss his return to 90-minute form and how he has learned from his injury earlier this season.

The Revs’ offense failed to make a mark on the score sheet for the second straight game, but it wasn’t due to a lack of opportunities. The Revs outshot the Red Bulls 22-8, but were unable to put anything past a red-hot Luis Robles in goal. Hear what Head Coach Jay Heaps had to say about the Revs’ performance in Sunday’s shutout loss in Brian O’Connell’s article on ESPN Boston
