FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – There was concern amongst New England Revolution supporters when Michael Mancienne was forced out of last weekend’s season-opening lineup because of an injury suffered in pregame warmups, but it looks as if the ailment won’t keep the veteran center back sidelined for long.

Head coach Brad Friedel didn’t provide specifics on Mancienne’s injury, but said the 31-year-old defender is “day-to-day” in the buildup to Saturday afternoon’s home opener against Columbus Crew SC (2 p.m., TICKETS). In a positive sign, Mancienne did join his teammates on the training ground early in the week.

Friedel said Juan Fernando Caicedo, who missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw in Dallas with a muscular injury, is also day-to-day as he aims to make an MLS and Revs debut this weekend at Gillette Stadium.

“We’ll just see how his fitness comes along,” Friedel said of the Colombian forward.

Andrew Farrell, meanwhile, remains in a bit of limbo as he recovers from an eye injury that prevented him from traveling to Florida for the second leg of preseason. Farrell did join J. Caicedo in a workout on the side of Tuesday morning’s training session, sporting protective eyewear while doing so.

“We’re waiting on the eye doctor to give us the go-ahead,” Friedel said. “I don’t yet have a date for Andrew.”
