FOXBOROUGH, Mass. ā New England Revolution Academy player Isaac Angking (Providence, R.I.) has been called in to the U.S. Under-17 National Team for an eight-day international training camp in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Angking is one of 26 players called in to the eight-day camp, which began on Friday, Feb. 24 and ends on Friday, March 3.
The camp will aid in the USAās preparation for the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship, where the USA has been paired with Jamaica, Mexico, and El Salvador in Group C. The tournament will be held at Estadio Rommel FernĆ”ndez and Estadio MaracanĆ” de PanamĆ” in Panama City from April 21āMay 7. The CONCACAF Championship serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
This will be the U-17 MNTās first international camp in 2017 and the first set of international matches since Decemberās Nike International Friendlies, where the U.S. swept U-17 sides from Brazil, Portugal and Turkey to win the tournament for the first time since 2013.
Angking has made 70 appearances in his four seasons with the Academy. The Providence, R.I. native has scored 17 goals and added 16 assists since joining the Academy ahead of the 2013-14 season. During the 2016 Fall Semester, Angking participated in a pair of friendlies against Costa Rica, a U-17 international camp in Jamaica, and the 13th annual Nike International Friendlies, where the U.S. U-17s captured the title for the first time since 2013.
