Kabala named to U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team roster

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution Under-16 Guyllain “Guy” Kabala (Manchester, N.H.) is among the 20 players named to the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team roster for the Four-Nations Tournament and a pair of international friendlies against Uruguay and Paraguay in Argentina.


The U.S. kicks off its trip with an international friendly against Uruguay on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. ET in Buenos Aires. Two days later, the Americans begin Four-Nations Tournament play, taking on Chile at 6 p.m. ET in Santa Fe, Argentina. The second and final game of the tournament is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 25 against either Panama or Argentina, depending on the results of the team’s previous match. The U.S. then wraps up its week with an international friendly against Paraguay on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. ET in Buenos Aires.


Kabala and is currently participating in U.S. Soccer’s Under-17 Residency Program during its fall semester in Bradenton, Fla. The program features 31 of the country’s top players in the age group, living on campus at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., and training daily under the guidance of head coach Richie Williams. Currently in his third semester of the two-year cycle, Kablala is training with the ahead of the 2013 CONCACAF U17 Championship with the goal of qualifying for the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. The U.S. is the only nation to have qualified for all 14 previous FIFA U17 World Cups, most recently appearing in the Round of 16 during the 2011 event in Mexico.


Kabala is in his second year with the Revolution Under-16 team. The Manchester native spent much of his first season with the Revs with the Residency Program in Bradenton, returning to New England in May. After rejoining the club, Kabala made eight appearances, including six starts, with the Under-16 team and traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa, for the 2012 Future Champions Gauteng tournament (March 26-31), where he scored two goals in five appearances (four starts). He also made three appearances, all starts, during the Development Academy Playoffs (June 26-29) in Frisco, Texas.
