FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution midfielder Kelyn Rowe was voted Major League Soccer’s player of the week for Week 25 following his two-goal performance in the Revolution’s 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union at Gillette Stadium yesterday. The Major League Soccer player of the week is selected each week by a panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR).
Rowe scored two goals in an MLS game for the first time in his career, striking two long-distance goals on Sunday. His first, coming in the 26th minute, came off a leading pass from Chad Barrett on the run. Rowe ripped a 24-yard shot low to the side netting of the far post past Union keeper Zac MacMath to give the Revs a 1-0 lead. | WATCH THE GOAL
Rowe added his second – this time from 30 yards – in the 65th minute when he took a square pass from Dimitry Imbongo and let rip a shot that started left and bent right into the upper right corner past a diving MacMath. That goal put the Revs up 3-1 on the way to the final 5-1 score line. | WATCH THE GOAL

Rowe’s player of the week nod is his first in MLS, and the Revolution’s second of the 2013 season. Diego Fagundez earned player of the week honors in Week 14 for a two-goal, one-assist effort in a 5-0 win over LA.
The Revolution returns to action on Friday, Aug. 30, when the team travels to face Toronto FC at BMO Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The match will be televised by Comcast SportsNet and carried on the radio by 98.5 The Sports Hub.
