FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution Academy player Kevin Vang has been called in to the U.S. Under-17 National Team for a seven-day domestic training camp in Bradenton, Fla. The camp began on Sunday, May 15 and ends on Saturday, May 21.

“Kevin continues to make significant progress as he transitions through the age-groups here in the academy,” Revolution Director of Youth Development, Bryan Scales said. “This national team invitation provides him with a great opportunity to test himself in what is a very strong ’00 age group. We are excited for Kevin.”

A midfielder from Cranston R.I., Vang has made 55 appearances in his two seasons with the Academy. He has scored two goals, adding 10 assists since joining the Academy ahead of the 2014-15 season, including one goal and five assists in 22 appearances so far in the 2015-16 campaign, with 21 appearances at the U-16 level.

Vang made his first appearance with the Revolution Academy U-18s in his most recent appearance on May 7 at Oakwood Soccer Club. In that match, Vang started, played 77, minutes and recorded an assist.

Last year, Vang was one of four Revolution Academy players named to the U.S. Youth National Team Futures Camp. Vang was joined by fellow Academy players Jonathan Ferreira, Tyler Freitas, and Amos Shapiro-Thompson.
