FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen has been added to the U.S. National Teams roster ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against Costa Rica. Nguyen is one of 21 players, including fellow Revolution teammate Jermaine Jones, that will be available for selection in Tuesday night’s game, which is the final friendly ahead of the start of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The friendly against Costa Rica kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET and can be seen live on ESPN, WatchESPN, UniMas and Univision Deportes Network.
Nguyen had been capped six times with the U.S. National Team, including twice this year, coming off the bench in friendlies against Chile and Panama. After making his international debut in 2007, Nguyen went more than seven years before returning to the National Team in November 2014. An MLS MVP finalist in 2014, Nguyen has scored six goals and added a career-best 10 assists in 30 games with the Revolution this season.
Nguyen and Jones are scheduled to rejoin the Revs on Wednesday ahead of Saturday night’s regular-season home finale against the Montreal Impact at Gillette Stadium, a game that is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m
