RECENT FORM VS. NEW YORK RED BULLS
Wednesday night's battle at Red Bull Arena will be the 76th regular-season meeting - and 88th meeting in all competitions - between the New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls, whose rivalry goes all the way back to MLS' inaugural 1996 season.
New England is unbeaten against the Red Bulls in four meetings in all competitions since the start of 2019, going 2-0-2 in that span. Most recently these two sides squared off in August at Gillette Stadium, where the Revs came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw.
In regular-season play, home-field advantage has historically played a large role in recent years as the Revs have won five of the last seven meetings (5-1-1) in Foxborough, while the Red Bulls have been triumphant in nine of their 11 matchups at Red Bull Arena (0-9-2). Last time these two squared off in New Jersey the Revs came from behind thanks to Gustavo Bou's calm finish inside the far post to take a hard-fought point against their longtime rivals.
The Revs are 2-1-1 in their past four games since mid-October, most recently coming off a 1-1 draw at Nashville SC. New England currently sits at 6th place in the East with 29 points. Meanwhile, the Red Bulls are coming off their third straight draw and sit three points back of the Revs at 7th place in the East (26 points).
With potential for New England to punch their ticket to the postseason for the second consecutive year with a win or draw on Wednesday night over the Red Bulls, this will be a must-see battle.
