RECENT FORM VS. CHARLOTTE FC
New England and Charlotte FC met twice last year during the latter's expansion season, both teams winning on their home grounds. Charlotte claimed a 3-1 win over the Revolution last March, marking the first victory in club history, while the Revs returned the favor with a 2-1 win at Gillette Stadium less than one month later. With both of last year's matchups coming within the season's first seven games, this will be the first meeting between the sides in more than 10 months.
The Revs have their sights set on a bounce-back season in 2023, having seen their string of three straight playoff appearances snapped with a 10th-place finish in the Eastern Conference last year. Injuries to key players like Gustavo Bou, Dylan Borrero, and Giacomo Vrioni left the Revolution attack shorthanded for much of the season, and despite the arrival of Djordje Petrović, who finished second in MLS Goalkeeper of the Year voting, the Revs finished the campaign six points below the playoff line.
Charlotte also finished their inaugural campaign outside the playoff places in the East, level on points (42) with the Revs but officially one place higher (ninth) courtesy of the wins tiebreaker. The new boys were particularly good at home, with 10 of their 13 victories coming at Bank of America Stadium with a 10-6-1 record, and they were led in the attack by Polish international Karol Świderski, who scored two of his team-leading 10 goals against the Revolution.
Saturday night's meeting is an opportunity for both sides to start with a clean slate, as they aim to begin the new campaign on the right foot.
Overall Record vs. Charlotte: 1-1-0

Last meeting at Gillette Stadium: Revs 2, Charlotte 1 (April 16, 2022)
