RECENT FORM VS. COLUMBUS CREW
Recent history has seen these sides play to four straight draws, including stalemates in both meetings last year: 2-2 at Gillette Stadium in May, and 0-0 at Lower.com Field in July. While the Revs have picked up a single point on both of their previous trips to Lower.com Field since it opened in 2021, they haven't won in Columbus since the first leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2014, a string of eight straight trips to Columbus without a victory (0-5-3), including the 2020 Eastern Conference Championship.
New England will be full of confidence heading into Saturday's showdown, however, having rolled to a 4-0 win over CF Montréal this past weekend to move to 5-1-1 (16 pts.), just one point off the top of both the Eastern Conference and Supporters' Shield standings. Four different goal scorers (Dylan Borrero, Carles Gil, Bobby Wood, and Giacomo Vrioni) were on the board in that win as the Revs improved to 3-0-1 at home, and now they'll return to the road, where they've already won on two of their three trips to start the season.
Columbus (4-2-1, 13 pts.) will also be a confident side, having won three straight games while outscoring opponents 12-1 in the process. Head coach Wilfried Nancy, who moved to Columbus from CF Montréal this past offseason, has the Crew playing particularly strong at home, going 3-0-0 at Lower.com Field while scoring 12 times and conceding just once, that in a comprehensive 6-1 win over Atlanta United.
It's a battle of potential contenders in the Eastern Conference, and a huge test for both sides to see exactly where they stand heading into the meat of the MLS schedule.
