RECENT FORM VS. LOS ANGELES FC
Meetings between the New England Revolution and Los Angeles FC have been scarce, as Sunday night's showdown will be just the third time these sides have squared off since LAFC joined MLS as an expansion side in 2018. It's been almost four years since the last meeting in August 2019, LAFC snapping the Revs' club record 11-game unbeaten run with a 2-0 win at Gillette Stadium, while the only previous contest in LA was a 1-1 draw back in September 2018, when Brandon Bye's first career goal helped the visitors take home a point.
The Revs have gotten their 2023 campaign off to a perfect start with back-to-back shutout wins over Charlotte FC and Houston Dynamo FC. Henry Kessler's late strike helped New England to a 1-0 win over Charlotte on opening weekend, while Bye, Dylan Borrero, and Bobby Wood were all on the scoresheet in last weekend's 3-0 triumph over Houston. With six points from two games, the Revs are one of just two Eastern Conference teams (along with Inter Miami) to remain perfect on the young season, while they're one of six teams leaguewide yet to concede a goal.
LAFC also carry an unblemished record into this meeting, although the defending Supporters' Shield and MLS Cup champions have played just one game, a 3-2 win over the Portland Timbers this past weekend at BMO Stadium. Originally slated to play against the rival LA Galaxy on opening weekend at the Rose Bowl, that game was ultimately postponed until later in the summer because of severe weather in the Los Angeles area.
With both teams carrying perfect records into Sunday night's showdown, something has to give in California.
Overall Record vs. Los Angeles FC: 0-1-1

Last meeting at Gillette Stadium: LAFC 2, Revs 0 (August 3, 2019)
Last meeting at BMO Stadium: Revs 1, LAFC 1 (September 15, 2018)

Sunday night will mark the official league debut of the New England Revolution's brand new "Defiance" kit, which will serve as the team's community uniform for the 2023 and 2024 MLS seasons.
The "Defiance" kit features a white jersey and red shorts, with red socks and red trim along the shoulder and sleeves. The shirt's design is punctuated by a bold red "strikethrough" across the chest that embodies New England's famous spirit of positive defiance. Revolution is the ultimate act of defiance, and the club's new kit honors that resilient spirit that sparked the American Revolution, laid the foundation for our country, and has resonated throughout the New England region for centuries.
