RECENT FORM VS. CF MONTRÉAL
Last season was a departure from recent series history between the Revs and Montréal, as New England entered the 2022 season with six straight wins over their Eastern Conference foes in all competitions. That included a showdown in the group stage of the MLS is Back Tournament in 2020, as well as a playoff meeting later that year at Gillette Stadium. Montréal got the better of New England last year, though, winning both games by shutout (4-0 in Montréal, 1-0 in Foxborough).
These two sides have gotten off to drastically different starts in 2023. The Revs moved to 4-1-1 (13 pts.) with last weekend's 1-1 draw with New York City FC, tied for second in the East and third in the Supporters' Shield standings. That draw marked the Revolution's first blemish at home this season, though they do remain unbeaten (2-0-1) at Gillette Stadium and will play three more games in Foxborough before the end of the month.
Montréal (1-4-0, 3 pts.), meanwhile, sit at the foot of the Eastern Conference table with just three goals scored through their first five games, fewest in the East. Oddly enough all three of those goals came in a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Union, as Montréal have been shut out in all four of their losses to Inter Miami CF, Austin FC, Nashville SC, and the Vancouver Whitecaps. The most recent of those defeats, in Vancouver, was a 5-0 setback on Saturday night at BC Place.
Saturday night's showdown presents another opportunity for the Revs to stay unbeaten at home and maintain their place near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
Overall Record vs. Montréal: 15-12-3
Home Record vs. Montréal: 8-5-1
Last meeting at Gillette Stadium: Montréal 1, Revs 0 (September 17, 2022)
Last meeting at Stade Saputo: Montréal 4, Revs 0 (August 20, 2022)
