RECENT FORM VS. NEW YORK CITY FC
Something of a rivalry has been developing between the Revs and NYCFC in recent years, sparked in large part by a playoff meeting in 2021. NYCFC advanced past the record-setting Revs on that occasion, winning a penalty shootout at Gillette Stadium en route to an MLS Cup title. Recent regular season meetings have also been high stakes, high intensity affairs, and last year the teams split the series, NYCFC claiming a 4-2 win at Yankee Stadium before the Revs rolled to a 3-0 victory in Foxborough.
This year the Revs (4-1-0, 12 pts.) are off to one of the best starts in club history, atop the Eastern Conference standings as one of only two teams leaguewide - along with expansion team St. Louis CITY SC - to boast as many as four wins through five matchdays. While the Revolution's first three wins this season came via shutout, they took a different path this past weekend at Audi Field, erasing a halftime deficit with second-half goals from Gustavo Bou and Noel Buck to claim a 2-1 win over D.C. United.
NYCFC (2-2-1, 7 pts.) has been dependent on home form through the season's first month, winning both of their games at Yankee Stadium but going just 0-2-1 on a trio of road trips. They most recently suffered a 1-0 loss at Houston Dynamo FC this past Saturday night, shut out for the second time through the season's first five games.
The Revs will be aiming to stay perfect at home (2-0-0) as they welcome NYCFC to Gillette Stadium, where they'll play four of their five games throughout the month of April.
Overall Record vs. NYCFC: 10-9-4
Home Record vs. NYCFC: 6-3-2
Last meeting at Gillette Stadium: Revs 3, NYCFC 0 (September 4, 2022)
Last meeting at Yankee Stadium: NYCFC 4, Revs 2 (July 9, 2022)
