RECENT FORM VS. REAL SALT LAKE

This will be the 23rd overall meeting between the New England Revolution and Real Salt Lake, and their 12th game played at Gillette Stadium.

The Revs have gone 4-4-3 at home against Real Salt Lake, and this will be the first match these two sides have played in Foxborough since 2019 due to the pandemic. This includes three straight clean sheets at Gillette Stadium as the teams finished in a scoreless draw most recently in 2019, and the two matches prior - in 2017 and 2015 - the Revs rolled past RSL to 4-0 shutout victories.

While these two teams haven’t played in approximately two-and-a-half years, they do have recent history. After nine years in New England, former Revolution midfielder Scott Caldwell was acquired by RSL in free agency early this year. Caldwell has started both Real Salt Lake matches to open the 2022 campaign, totaling 179 minutes. For his potential third appearance, Caldwell would know the opposition extremely well.

Both the Revs and Salt Lake have four points through the start of the new campaign, with draws in their season openers and claiming wins in week two. RSL shut out the Seattle Sounders, 1-0, at Rio Tinto Stadium last weekend, while the Revs also kept a 1-0 clean sheet against FC Dallas.

The Revs will be on shorter rest than RSL after New England defeated Pumas, 3-0, at home in Leg 1 of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Quarterfinals on Wednesday night. Saturday’s match against RSL will be the third of five games the Revs will play in only 15 days.

With Caldwell making his first return to Gillette Stadium, the opportunity to claim another three points in the MLS regular season, and the first 7:30 p.m. kickoff of the year at Gillette Stadium, this will be a battle that you won’t want to miss.

Overall Record vs. RSL: 6-10-6
Home Record vs. RSL: 4-4-3

Last Meeting at Rio Tinto Stadium: Real Salt Lake 4, Revs 1 (October 18, 2018)
Last Meeting at Gillette Stadium: Revs 0, Real Salt Lake 0 (September 21, 2019)

SHOW YOUR COLORS

The Revs will be sporting their new primary kit, “The Liberty,” on Saturday at home. The bespoke pattern is inspired by Boston’s Freedom Trail, a walking trail through the heart of Boston which passes 16 historical sites from the American Revolution – which gives a nod to the club name. This sleek new look will be paired with blue shorts, conveying a defiant, bold and strong look.

The club is reverting to blue shorts for the first time since 2013 to complement “The Liberty.” This is to convey a bold and strong one-color look, in keeping with the New England’s defiant spirit while also enabling the new logo the chance to shine in its first time on a kit.

You can purchase “The Liberty” HERE.
