A pair of wins earned the New England Revolution a pair of honorees on the MLS Team of the Week presented by Audi, as both Adam Buksa and Bruce Arena were recognized for Week 27.
Buksa scored the opening goal in Saturday's 2-1 win over Orlando City SC - volleying home Gustavo Bou's left-wing cross in the ninth minute - and then played a role in forcing the game-deciding own goal just nine minutes later with a hard, near-post run. With 12 goals apiece, Buksa and Bou are tied for the team lead and fifth in MLS.
Arena cited Saturday's performance as "one of [Buksa's] best games" since arriving in New England ahead of the 2020 season.
"I thought he played one of his best games since he's been here tonight," Arena said of the Polish striker. "It was pretty complete. He held balls up. His passing at times was pretty good. He was dangerous. He helped us defensively. He had a real good game tonight."
Arena himself also earned Team of the Week honors after leading the Revs to two wins in a four-day stretch. The first came on Wednesday night in Chicago as New England made a remarkable nine changes to the starting XI, but still managed to clinch a playoff spot with a dramatic 3-2 win over the Fire. Having kept much of his squad fresh, Arena then rotated with another nine changes to the squad for Saturday's victory over Orlando.
The Revs will enter midweek action with a 17-point lead in the Eastern Conference and a 14-point edge in the Supporters' Shield race. New England have six games left on the regular season schedule, including Wednesday night's visit to CF Montréal (7:30 p.m. ET, TV38, myRITV).
