Major League Soccer's hottest striker continued his torrid run of form on Sunday afternoon, as Adam Buksa scored two more goals in the New England Revolution's 2-2 draw with Atlanta United FC. As a result, the 25-year-old Polish international landed on the MLS Team of the Week for the first time this season.
Buksa has now registered a remarkable eight goals during a six-game scoring streak in all competitions, with the first five goals of that stretch coming via header. Both of Sunday's strikes, however, were with his left foot as the versatile forward has proven to be just as lethal with his feet. Buksa first finished a give-and-go with Carles Gil through goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth's legs from a tight angle, before settling and firing home from Sebastian Lletget's cross for his second.
With 24 goals scored from open play since the start of the 2020 season, Buksa leads MLS in that category, while his 28 league goals are tied with Ola Kamara for third-most during that span. All told, Buksa has 10 goals in 12 appearances in all competitions this year, including six in MLS play, tied for fourth-most in the league.
