The New England Revolution's recent defensive resurgence - three straight shutouts for the first time since 2015 - has largely been spearheaded by center back Henry Kessler and goalkeeper Djordje Petrović, and both were honored with places on the MLS Team of the Week following this past weekend's 3-0 win over Orlando City SC.
Kessler played a part at both ends of the field at Exploria Stadium, passing at a 95.5 percent clip while adding five clearances and a team-leading five successful duels, and also capping the scoring with his third career goal, heading home from Carles Gil's corner kick in the 75th minute.
Petrović, meanwhile, continued his red-hot start to life in MLS, making three saves to register his fourth shutout in just 10 league appearances. The 22-year-old Serbian's best stop came in the 33rd minute, getting low to his left to push away a blistering attempt from Pato with the score 1-0 at the time.
Kessler, Petrović, and the Revs are back home on Saturday night to host D.C. United and new head coach Wayne Rooney. Kickoff from Gillette Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (TICKETS), with coverage on TV38, myRITV, and 98.5 The Sports Hub.
