Carles Gil began last week by drawing the game-winning penalty in the MLS All-Star Game and he finished it by scoring the game-winning goal in the New England Revolution's 1-0 win over D.C. United, claiming a spot on the MLS Team of the Week in the process.
Gil was on the end of a great setup from Brandon Bye and Tommy McNamara, smashing home from close range to bag his fifth goal of the season to go along with 12 assists.
Djordje Petrović helped Gil's goal stand as the game winner with his fifth shutout of the season - and his fourth straight - making three saves to earn a place on the MLS Team of the Week bench. It's the third straight week that the 22-year-old goalkeeper has been either on the Team of the Week squad or bench.
Unbeaten in four and winners of two straight, the Revs head to Canada this week for a two-game trip to Toronto FC (Wednesday, Aug. 17) and Montreal (Saturday, Aug, 20).
