FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution and Major League Soccer announced today that Revolution defender Chris Tierney has been forced to withdraw from Wednesday night’s 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game because of an injury. Tierney, who was named to the All-Star Team for the first time in his eight-year MLS career last week, was one of four players that was forced to withdraw from the All-Star Game because of injury.
The 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game, which features the MLS All-Stars facing Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., kicks off at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 29 and will be broadcast nationally in English on FOX Sports 1 and in Spanish on UniMás.
A native of Wellesley, Massachusetts, the 29-year-old Tierney is the longest-tenured player on the Revolution roster, having originally joined the club in 2008. The Revs’ first-choice left back, Tierney has made 21 appearances so far this season, starting 19 times, while scoring one goal and adding three assists, including one in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park, setting up Kelyn Rowe’s late equalizer. For his career, Tierney has started 160 of the 176 regular-season games in which he has appeared in, scoring eight goals and adding 29 assists.
