BRADENTON, Fla. – With 11 new players joining the New England Revolution roster for 2025 – and with more to come – amongst the most significant signings thus far has been forward Leo Campana. Arriving in New England from Inter Miami CF, Campana brings a new dimension to the Revs' attack. Still just 24 years old, he recorded 32 goals and registered eight assists across his 100 appearances with Miami, helping the Herons win the 2024 Supporters’ Shield and Leagues Cup 2023 titles. Through just his first few days of preseason, Campana’s confidence and quality of play has already made it clear that he can shine on the Revs’ front line.

“Leo, we’re very excited about. He’s a true number nine,” said head coach Caleb Porter. “He has done very well in this league, and I love that. He’s scored goals at a high level; he’s just never had the run of games to really take the next step to become one of the best strikers in MLS. I feel like he has that potential.”

For Campana, who spent three years in Miami but found playing time sporadic following the arrivals of footballing legends Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, now is exactly the right time to make a change. Seeking more opportunities on the pitch, he knows the switch to the Revs will give him the playing time he needs to demonstrate what makes him a dangerous attacking presence, as he aims to help the team accomplish big things this season.

“What we are constructing here, I think is something really good,” Campana said of the 2025 season. “The atmosphere and the desire to achieve great things for the team, I think we want to do really good things this year.”

Campana, who learned from his experiences with Messi, Suarez, and others in Miami, is excited to join the Revolution attack alongside captain and playmaker Carles Gil. The two have already started to click as preseason is underway, and the relationship is one where the respect flows mutually.

“To play with Carles, for me, in my position, is the best that I can get. He is an amazing player and an amazing person,” Campana said. “Everyone knows Carles’ talent and I think he is one of the best players in the league. We will do really good things together on the pitch.”

For Gil, who admired Campana's qualities as an opponent the past three years, the excitement to combine in the Revolution attack is shared.

“He’s a very good striker and obviously everyone is very happy to have him here with us,” Gil said of his new teammate. “And he speaks Spanish, so it’s been easy for us both. The first day we had very good chemistry, including on the pitch. I think he is going to help us a lot.”

Meshing with a new team takes time for any player, but with a monthlong preseason camp in Florida underway, that is exactly what the Revolution will look to do. Building a team with strong bonds on and off the pitch is amongst the top priorities – for Campana, it’s number one.

“We have a lot of games before the MLS season starts, so it will be good. Those games prior to the season are important so we can have good connections and be a team. That’s the most important thing,” Campana explained. “To be a team and to compete as a team. I know we will do good things.”
