CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
13th in Eastern Conference (0-3-1, 1 pt.)
Last Result | 2-1 loss at New York City FC

The Revs broke through for their first goal of the season last time out at Yankee Stadium as Brandon Bye’s right-wing cross forced an own goal, but it wasn’t enough to earn their first three points of the year as they suffered a 2-1 loss at New York City FC. The goal, scored in the 26th minute, gave the Revs their first lead of the season, but the hosts hit back with a pair of goals either side of halftime.

Saturday’s match brings the Revs back home to Foxborough, as they’ll try again for the first win of the season after a bye weekend to reset and refocus. The Revs and Red Bulls split last year’s meetings – each side winning on their own turf – and as hosts New England will be hoping to once again feel that homefield advantage this weekend.

New York Red Bulls
7th in Eastern Conference (2-1-2, 8 pts.)
Last Result | 2-1 win vs. Toronto FC

Last weekend’s 2-1 win over Toronto FC saw the Red Bulls rise to 12th in the weekly MLS Power Rankings, as they sit seventh in the Eastern Conference standings. The Red Bulls find themselves on a four-game unbeaten run (2-0-2) and midtable in the East despite scoring just six goals through their first five games.

New York’s strength has been on the defensive side, allowing just four goals total and just one in a pair of road games. As the Revs continue to search for their first three-point haul, they’ll need to break down the Red Bulls’ consistent defense.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution forward Maxi Urruti
Stepping into the starting striker role in the Revolution’s last match at NYCFC, Urruti is looking to fill the role left vacant by Leo Campana, who remains sidelined with a hamstring strain. With just 159 minutes under his belt in his debut season with the Revs, Urruti leads the team in accurate shooting percentage.

Throughout his MLS career, Urruti has collected four goals and one assist against the Red Bulls, proving himself a valuable threat to New York’s resolute backline.

Red Bulls midfielder Emil Forsberg
Forsberg is flying high heading into Saturday’s clash after scoring both Red Bull goals to bury Toronto last weekend. The RBNY captain was rewarded for his performance with a place on the MLS Team of the Matchday.

The Swedish attacker leads the Red Bulls with three goals on the young season, his second year in MLS after bagging nine goals and five assists in 2024.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Head coach Caleb Porter on the work players put in during the bye week:
“It was good. We have to keep fighting and we have to win the next game. It’s that simple. So, it’s good to have a couple weeks just to work on some things and make sure we have the right guys in the lineup in this game, guys that are going to fight.”

Midfielder Jackson Yueill on training ahead of this meeting with New York:
“It’s intense [and] aggressive. I think we want higher volumes during the game, and so you can see that in the training plans. We want to be in and around the box, and not afraid to take our opportunities. We don’t want to waste time and let the defense kind of set up, so a lot of intensity, a lot of aggressive movements in and around the box and taking your chances when they’re there. It’s been a big focus from Caleb.”

Yueill on the team’s drive to secure their first win this weekend:
“Of course we want to win and show our fans that we’re a really good team and good players. We know that it’s a long season, but it’s important to get points early and often. We have a couple of road games coming, so we want to take advantage of the home games. It’s soccer and you have ups and downs. We want to turn this around and get on our front foot and start playing as well as we can, because we know we’re a good team. That’s the pressure that we put on ourselves. We have a high standard and we have to live up to that.”
