TORONTO – The New England Revolution (8-11-11, 35 pts.) fell to Toronto FC (9-15-6, 33 pts.), 4-1, at BMO Field on Saturday evening. The Revolution jumped out to an early lead with a goal from forward Cristian Penilla in the 10^th minute, but Toronto FC responded with four unanswered goals, three coming in the second half, to claim all three points.

After Penilla’s early goal, Toronto pulled level in the 36^th minute with a strike from Sebastian Giovinco. The Reds grabbed the lead in the 53^rd minute as Lucas Janson buried a rebound to put the hosts up 2-1. Toronto then went ahead 3-1 in the 58^th minute with a penalty kick, converted by Victor Vázquez following a foul by Jalil Anibaba. Marky Delgado added Toronto’s fourth in the 81^st minute.

Penilla’s strike was his 11^th goal of the season, moving him into a tie with Teal Bunbury for the team lead in 2018. The Ecuadorian also moves into a tie for the third-most goals among all MLS newcomers in 2018. Midfielder Luis Caicedo earned his fourth assist of the season on Penilla’s tally, and is now tied for the third-most assists on the team.

New England returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 6, when the club travels to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to face Atlanta United FC. The contest kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Univision, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and in Portuguese on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.

Revolution Fall to Toronto FC, 4-1

• The Revolution fell to Toronto FC, 4-1, on Saturday to move to 8-11-11 (35 points) on the season.
• New England remains in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, five points out of the sixth and final playoff position with four games remaining.
• New England is now 2-7-6 on the road in 2018 and drops to 3-5-5 all-time at Toronto.

Penilla Tied for Team Lead in Goals

• Forward Cristian Penilla tallied his 11^th goal of the 2018 season, and his third of the year against Toronto, in the 10^th minute to tie Teal Bunbury for the club lead in goals scored. With six assists to Bunbury’s four, Penilla now leads the club’s Golden Boot race with four matches remaining.
• With 11 goals in his first MLS season, Penilla ties former Revs striker Saer Sene (2012) for the most goals by an international signing in his first season in New England.
• Penilla is now tied with three other players for the third-most goals by an MLS newcomer in 2018. The other newcomers with 11 goals are Carlos Vela (LAFC), Ismael Tajouri-Shradi (NYCFC), and Damir Kreilach (RSL).

Farrell Eclipses 30 Starts for Sixth Straight Season

• Defender Andrew Farrell made his 30^th start of the 2018 campaign, and his 10^th consecutive start with the captain’s armband, on Saturday. He continues to be the only Revolution player to start and appear in every MLS match this season.
• Farrell has now started at least 30 matches and totaled more than 2,600 minutes in each of his six MLS seasons.
• Since he entered the league as the first-overall 2013 MLS SuperDraft selection, Farrell leads all MLS field players in regular season games started (188), games played (189), and minutes played (16,707).

Caicedo Registers Fourth Assist of the Season

• Revolution midfielder Luis Caicedo tallied his fourth assist of the season on Penilla’s 10^th minute goal in tonight’s match. He is now tied with three others for the third-most assists on the team.
• The 22-year-old made 30 total passes with an accuracy of 86.7 percent, and created two chances.

Rowe Passes Ralston for Sixth Most Revs Appearances

• Midfielder Kelyn Rowe appeared in his 202^nd regular season match with the Revolution, moving him ahead of Steve Ralston (201) for the sixth-most games played in a Revs jersey.

Hauché Makes First MLS Start

• Forward/midfielder Guillermo Hauché made his first MLS start in tonight’s match, only one week after making his Revolution debut as a halftime substitute on Sept. 22 vs. Chicago.
• The 25-year-old Argentine registered two shots and one tackle in 59 minutes of action.

Revolution Make Three Changes to Starting XI

• Revolution Head Coach Brad Friedel made three changes to the club’s starting lineup from its most recent match against the Chicago Fire on Sept. 22. Forward Juan Agudelo, forward/midfielder Guillermo Hauché, and defender Jalil Anibaba replaced midfielder Diego Fagundez, defender Brandon Bye, and defender Antonio Delamea.
