FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (11-10-12, 45 pts.) clinched an Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoff berth with a 2-0 win vs. New York City FC before a crowd of 28,602 at Gillette Stadium on Sunday evening. Forward Teal Bunbury scored game-winning goal in the 66^th minute to officially secure New England's first playoff appearance since 2015. Gustavo Bou doubled the host's lead with a chipped goal in the 89^th minute – his ninth goal since debuting with the Revolution on July 17.

After opening the season with a 2-8-2 record, the Revolution responded with a historic turnaround, going 9-2-10 en route to securing the club’s 14^th trip to the postseason, and first since 2015. The resurgence was sparked by an 11-game unbeaten run from May 11 through July 27, which tied a club record. Bruce Arena will be making his return to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, where he is the league’s all-time leader in coaching wins (32) and MLS Cup wins with five. The Revs’ opponent in the first round of the postseason will be determined following next weekend's regular-season finale at Atlanta United, which could see New England advance as high as sixth place.

Bunbury's goal marks his sixth of the season, including his third game-winner – tied with Cristian Penilla for most among Revolution players in 2019. Penilla recorded his eighth assist of the season on Bunbury's goal, while Gustavo Bou was credited with his second assist of the season. Tonight's contest was Bou's first career MLS performance with both a goal and an assist. He now owns nine goals, fourth-most in MLS since he entered the league, with two assists in just 13 appearances. In net, goalkeeper Matt Turner made six saves in his second consecutive home shutout and the 10^th overall shutout of his MLS career.

New England wraps up the regular season on Decision Day presented by AT&T when the club travels to Atlanta for a meeting with Atlanta United FC on Sunday, Oct. 6. • The Revolution (11-10-12, 45 pts.) defeated New York City FC, 2-0, to officially clinch the club’s berth in the 2019 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. The Revolution’s home record finishes at 8-5-4 on the year.  
• New England is the seventh and final Eastern Conference team to clinch its spot in the postseason, but could potentially advance as high as sixth place on next Sunday’s Decision Day presented by AT&T.
• The win marks Head Coach Bruce Arena’s return to the MLS Cup Playoffs, where he is the league’s all-time leader in postseason wins (32) and MLS Cup titles (5).
• The result gives the Revolution points in 18 of the club's last 20 league games dating back to May 11, with a 9-2-9 record during that span.

Bou Tightens Revolution's Golden Boot Race with Ninth Goal

·Forward Gustavo Bou scored his ninth goal of the season in the 89^th minute, when he chipped New York City FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson to guarantee the Revs’ victory. He also recorded his second assist of his debut campaign on Teal Bunbury's game-winning goal.

·Bou owns nine goals through 13 MLS appearances since debuting with the Revolution on July 17. Tonight marks his first MLS game with both a goal and an assist.

·His nine goals since July 17, when he made his MLS debut, are currently fourth-most in MLS over that span, trailing only Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Josef Martinez, and Carlos Vela.            

·Bou now trails Carles Gil by one goal in the club's Golden Boot race, which will culminate with next Sunday's Decision Day matchup at Atlanta United FC.

Bunbury Boosts Revs into Postseason with Game-Winning Goal

·Forward Teal Bunbury scored the game-winning goal in the 66^th minute, proving to be the goal the secured New England’s playoff berth.

·Bunbury's goal is his sixth of the season, including his third game-winner, which is tied with Cristian Penilla for most among Revs players this season.

Turner Six Saves Help Revs Post Sixth Shutout

·Goalkeeper Matt Turner recorded six crucial saves to secure his 10^th career MLS shutout, and his second in as many home games.

·The Revolution have now posted six clean sheets on the year, with Turner starting five of those contests.

·Turner’s 2019 record improves to 8-3-7, while his overall MLS record moves to 16-13-16. His 16^th win moves him past Brad Knighton for the sixth-most wins in club history, while his 10 shutouts are now tied with Cody Cropper and Adin Brown for third-most in Revs annals.
