FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (11-11-4, 37 pts.) fell on Saturday night at Greenville Triumph SC (11-7-8, 41 pts.), 1-0. Revolution II goalkeeper Joe Rice set a new career high with nine saves on the night. Allen Gavilanes scored the lone goal of the match for Greenville off a free kick.
Revolution II controlled possession for the majority of the contest, but only managed to record two shots for the night. Edward Kizza had New England’s lone shot on target, firing from the top of the box into the hands of Greenville goalkeeper Paul Christensen.
Joe Rice recorded nine saves on the night, a season high, including five stops in the second half. New England was reduced to 10 men late in the contest when Collin Verfurth was shown his second yellow card of the night.
Five Revolution Academy products appeared in Saturday’s match for Revs II, with Justin Rennicks, Damian Rivera, and Noel Buck all starting. Colby Quiñones and Meny Silva coming off the bench.
New England has two matches remaining in the USL League One regular season. Revolution II will head back on the road next Saturday night, visiting playoff contender North Texas SC. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
