FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (2-5-1, 7 pts.) defeated the New York Red Bulls, 1-0, at Gillette Stadium on Saturday evening. Cristian Penilla scored the game's lone goal in the 73^rd minute, when he beat Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles with a right-footed shot inside of the near post.

Newcomers Juan Fernando Caicedo and Carles Gil were credited with the assists on Penilla's game-winning goal. The assist was Caicedo's first in MLS, while Gil now owns two helpers on his debut campaign stateside. Gil's five combined goals and assists are the third most among all league newcomers this season, trailing only Toronto's Alejandro Pozuelo and Orlando's Nani.

Along the back line, defender Andrew Farrell became the fifth Revolution player to eclipse 17,000 regular season minutes played exclusively with the club. Meanwhile, Diego Fagundez became the youngest Homegrown field player in MLS annals to reach the 15,000-minute mark. In net, goalkeeper Cody Cropper recorded five saves for a second consecutive game – once again tying his single-game career high – and posted his first shutout since Sept. 9, 2017.

New England returns to action on Wednesday, April 24, when the club hosts the Montreal Impact in the third and final installment of the three-game homestand. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and in Portuguese on 1260 AM Nossa Radio. Following the mid-week tilt, the Revs will travel west for a Saturday evening clash with Sporting Kansas City on April 27.

·The Revolution defeated the New York Red Bulls, 1-0, on Saturday, setting the club’s record at 2-5-1 (7 pts.) through eight games of the 2019 MLS season.

• New England's all-time record against New York moves to 31-27-15, including a 23-6-7 mark in games played at Gillette Stadium.
• The last six meetings between New England and New York at Gillette Stadium have all been decided by only one goal, with the Revs winning five of those contests.

Penilla Opens 2019 Account with Game-Winning Goal

• Forward Cristian Penilla scored the game-winning goal in the 73^rd minute of tonight’s victory against New York. The Ecuador International entered the match as a substitute in the 71st minute, and registered his first goal of the season two minutes later.
• Last season, Penilla paced New England with 12 goals, the most ever by an international signing in their first season with the club.
• Through the team’s first eight games in 2019, Penilla has made seven appearances with four starts.

Newcomers Caicedo, Gil Tally Game-Winning Assists

• Forward Juan Fernando Caicedo recorded his first career MLS assist in tonight's match, when he played Cristian Penilla in on goal in the 73^rd minute. This season, Caicedo has recorded six appearances, including two starts, with 222 minutes played.
• Midfielder Carles Gil was credited with the secondary assist on Penilla's goal. Gil's five combined goals (three) and assists (two) are third most among all MLS newcomers, trailing only Toronto FC's Alejandro Pozuelo (nine) and Orlando City SC's Nani (eight).

Fagundez Becomes First Homegrown Field Player to Hit 15,000-Minute Mark

• In the 22^nd minute, midfielder Diego Fagundez became the ninth player in Revolution history to reach 15,000 regular season minutes for his MLS career. Fagundez totaled 71 minutes of action in tonight’s match to move ahead of Taylor Twellman (15,046) for the eighth most minutes played in a Revolution uniform.  
• The Revolution Academy product from Leominster, Mass. is now the first Homegrown field player in MLS history to reach the 15,000-minute threshold, after previously being the first to reach 10,000 minutes.
• Since the start of 2013 season, Fagundez ranks third among all MLS players in league games played with 197, trailing only New York’s Luis Robles (208) and Vancouver’s Felipe (198).

Farrell Eclipses 17,000 Minutes

• Defender Andrew Farrell eclipsed 17,000 career regular season minutes in the second minute of tonight's contest, becoming the fifth player in Revolution history to reach the milestone with the club.
• In tonight's match, Farrell tied for the team lead with six interceptions across 90 minutes played.
• Farrell, 27, has made 194 regular season appearances and 192 regular season starts for the Revolution. With two more starts, he will tie Steve Ralston for fifth most in club history.
