FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (1-1-0; 3 pts.) defeated the Colorado Rapids (0-1-0; 0 pts.), 2-1, at Gillette Stadium on Saturday afternoon thanks to a game-winning from defender Chris Tierney in second-half stoppage time. Tierney beat Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard with a free kick from the edge of the 18-yard box in the 93^rd minute to secure all three points for the home side. Midfielder Diego Fagundez opened the scoring for New England with the 42^nd goal of his career, which propels him past Joe-Max Moore and into fourth place on the Revolution's all-time scoring list.

Midfielder Cristian Penilla, who made his second start for New England in today's contest, registered the first assist of his MLS career on Fagundez's goal. In net, goalkeeper Matt Turner earned the first win of his MLS career, highlighted by a penalty kick save in the 60^th minute. Turner, a former unsigned college player, made his Revolution and MLS debut in last weekend's match against Philadelphia.

With both Antonio Delamea and Claude Dielna serving one-match red card suspensions, defenders Jalil Anibaba and Brandon Bye made their first starts as members of the Revolution at center back and right back, respectively, and played all 90 minutes. Defender Andrew Farrell also shifted to center back, where he played 90 minutes, from his usual starting position at right back.

New England will remain in Foxborough through the bye week and will host New York City FC on Saturday, March 24. • The Revolution defeated the Colorado Rapids, 2-1, on Saturday, bringing the club’s record to 1-1-0 (3 pts.) through two matches of the 2018 regular season.
• New England's all-time record against Colorado improves to to 16-10-9, including a 12-6-5 mark at home.
• The win extends New England's unbeaten run in home openers to 12 matches, giving the Revs an 8-0-4 record in home openers dating back to 2007. New England has now gone unbeaten in its last nine regular season home games dating back to July 22, 2017.

Tierney Matches Revs Record, Secures Three Points with Dramatic Stoppage-Time Goal

• Defender Chris Tierney provided the game-winning goal for the Revolution in the third minute of stoppage time after coming on as a first-half substitute. Tierney has now recorded 13 goals and four game-winning goals in his MLS career.
• With his appearance in the match, Tierney became the first field player in Revolution history to feature in 11 different MLS seasons (2008-18). He is matched only by goalkeeper Matt Reis, who played in 11 seasons from 2003-13. Tierney surpasses Shalrie Joseph (2003-12) for the most seasons played as a field player.
• The goal is New England’s second latest game-winning goal dating back to 2014, trailing only Kelyn Rowe's game-winning goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time in the 2017 regular season finale at Montreal on Oct. 22, 2017.

Fagundez Notches First Revolution Goal of 2018 Season; Moves up Revs All-Time List

• Midfielder Diego Fagundez recorded his 42^nd career MLS goal, the first Revolution goal of the season, in the 48^th minute of today's contest. With the goal, Fagundez moved into a tie with Steve Ralston, passing Joe Max-Moore (41), for the third most goals all-time in a Revolution jersey.
• Forward Cristian Penilla recorded the assist on Fagundez's goal, marking his first career MLS and Revolution assist.

Turner Saves Colorado Penalty Attempt

• Goalkeeper Matt Turner registered his first career penalty save in as many attempts in today's match. Following a foul in the box committed by defender Jalil Anibaba in the 53^rd minute, Turner made the save on Colorado's Jack Price's penalty attempt. Prices’ follow-up shot then sailed over the bar.
• The penalty save was the first recorded by a Revolution goalkeeper since Bobby Shuttleworth made two penalty saves at Philadelphia on March 20, 2016.

Agudelo Notches 100^th Career Revolution Appearance
