Revolution Academy Teams Update: November 4

U14s vs. Match Fit - Youth teams

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution’s Under-18 team suffered a 3-2 loss against BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday, November 2, at Regis College in Weston, Mass. The U18s were the only Revolution Academy team in action last weekend, with the Under-16s’ and Under-14s’ games cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

UNDER-18s

The Under-18s almost came back to earn a share of the points point with BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday, falling 3-2 after being 3-0 down with just 15 minutes remaining. The Revs were down 1-0 at the half after Grant Burg netted in the 31st minute for BW Gottschee. Donovan Cesar doubled the Gottschee lead in the 64th minute before Sergio Abarca added another goal in the 74th minute to give BWG a 3-0 advantage. The Revolution U18s pulled a goal back in the 75th minute, when Zach Herivaux (Brookline, Mass.) created a turnover in the midfield and fired into the roof of the net from 25 yards out, making the score 3-1. That goal was the third of the season for Herivaux, who was named New England’s UnitedHealthcare Youth Player of the Year, late last month. The Revs struck again six minutes later, cutting the BWG lead to one at 3-2. Christian Schifano (Sudbury, Mass.) picked up a loose ball and played in Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) who turned and finished for his third goal of the season. Despite the attempted comeback, BWG was able to hang on for the victory. Revs goalkeeper Bill Sinibaldi (Plaistow, N.H.) made eight saves in the loss.

All three Academy teams are back in action next weekend as the Under-18s and Under-16s travel to Bridgeport, Conn. to face BSC CT Academy. The games will be played on Sunday, November 9, at the University of Bridgeport with the U18s kicking off at 11 a.m. and the U16s playing at 12:30 p.m.

The Under-14s will travel to North Carolina to take part in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase at BB&T Soccer Park in Advance, N.C. They are set to face Bethesda-Olney on Saturday, November 8, with the game set to kick off at 10:15 a.m., before facing Orlando City SC at 2 p.m. that same day. The U14s will round out the weekend on Sunday, November 9 when they face the Capital Area RailHawks Academy at 11 a.m.
