FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All three of the New England Revolution’s youth teams were in action last weekend, going 3-0-0 against Everton FC Westchester on Sunday, September 28. The Under-18 team won their first game of the season, posting a 2-1 victory, before the Under-16 and Under-14 teams won, 2-0 and 3-2, respectively, at Milton High School in Milton, Mass.
UNDER-18s
The Under-18s earned a hard-fought victory over Everton FC Westchester on Sunday, eventually topping their New York rivals, 2-1. The Revs got off to the perfect start, as Bryant Nardizzi (Framingham, Mass.) finished from just outside the box after John Wilkins (Natick, Mass.) set him up in the fifth minute. FC Westchester hit back 20 minutes later through Simeon Okoro, and had multiple chances to take the lead in the second half only to be denied by Revs goalkeeper Bill Sinibaldi (Plaistow, N.H.) who made four saves on the day. Zach Herivaux’s (Brookline, Mass.) goal from an Aaron James’ (Amherst, Mass.) cross in the 85th minute gave the U18s the full three points and their first win of the season.
UNDER-16s
The Under-16s maintained their good start to the season, recording their third win in four games by beating Everton FC Westchester, 2-0. The Revs took the lead in the 28th minute when Santi Cardona (Revere, Mass.) pounced on a defensive error and chipped the ball over the FC Westchester goalkeeper for his first goal of the season. The U16s doubled their lead in the second half when Izaiah Jennings (Barrington, R.I.) scored his team-best third goal of the season, slotting past the ‘keeper in the 68th minute following a goalmouth scramble. U16s goalkeepers Trey Miller (Monson, Mass.) and Pat Quinn (Manchester, N.H.) each saw time in the shutout, the U16s’ third in four games so far this season.
UNDER-14s
The Under-14s conceded two goals in the opening 10 minutes, but came back to record a 3-2 win over Everton FC Westchester on Sunday. Juan Tobon Rua opened the scoring for the visitors in the fifth minute and Alex Zarikos doubled the advantage just three minutes later. The Revs pulled a goal back in the 19th minute when Tim Ennin (East Hartford, Conn.) found space at the far post and tapped in a Paulo Da Silva (Framingham, Mass.) corner kick, making the score 2-1. The U14s equalized in the 49th minute when Gustavo Cassemiro (Framingham, Mass.) tucked in the rebound after Connor Haskell (Medfield, Mass.) fired a powerful free kick on frame. Five minutes from time, Ennin finished a cross from Aiden Scales (Nashua, N.H.) for the game-winning goal. The Revs had 15 shots on the day while goalkeeper Ryan Manning (Middleton, Mass.) was called on to make two saves in the win.
All three of the Revolution’s youth teams are back in action this weekend, as they travel to face local rivals FC Bolts Celtic on Sunday, October 5, at Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass. The Under-18s kick off the day at 11 a.m., with the Under-16s following at 1:30 p.m. and the Under-14s rounding things out at 4 p.m.
