FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy teams were all in action last weekend, travelling to Portland, Connecticut to take on Oakwood SC on Saturday, April 25. The Under-18s earned a 1-0 win to start the day before the Under-16s suffered their first U.S. Soccer Development Academy defeat of 2015. The Under-14s finished up the day with a 2-0 win, pushing their undefeated streak to 10 games.

The Under-18s rebounded from a winless start to April by securing their first win since March 15, earning a 1-0 victory over Oakwood SC on Saturday. The Revs dominated the game from start to finish but it took the home side until the 80th minute to find the go-ahead goal. Captain Zach Herivaux (Brookline, Mass.) was brought down in the Oakwood area and stepped up himself to take the ensuing penalty, firing past the goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season to put the Revolution up 1-0. Revs goalkeeper Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.), secured his first shutout of the season in the victory.

The Under-16s suffered their first league defeat of 2015 with a 1-0 loss to Oakwood on Saturday. The U-16s, who had gone 2-0-1 since resuming U.S. Soccer Development Academy play in March, were shorthanded for the game with several key players unavailable missing while playing up with the U-18s. The game was scoreless until Revolution goalkeeper Trey Miller (Monson, Mass.) committed a foul on the edge of his own area while being last man back, resulting in a straight red card in the 70th minute. With the Revs having already used their three available substitutes, defender Nick Woodruff (Attleborough, Mass.) stepped in goal for the final 10 minutes of the game. Julian Stifano took the resulting free kick for Oakwood, and Woodruff was unable to keep the ball out of the net, giving the home side a 1-0 advantage in the 72nd minute. The Revs were unable to find an equalizer in the remaining time and saw their three-game unbeaten streak snapped.

The Under-14s continued their good form, earning a 2-0 win over Oakwood SC on Saturday to extend their unbeaten streak to double figures. The U-14s have now gone 9-0-1 since November and have outscored their opponents 23-3 in that time. The Revs were dominant from the start against Oakwood and went ahead in the 12th minute. Defender Tyler Freitas (North Attleborough, Mass.) whipped in a free kick toward the back post, and Paulo Da Silva (Framingham, Mass.) was on hand to volley the ball into the net from close range for his first-ever goal for the Revs Academy. The U-14s doubled their lead 12 minutes later, as Laz Dorogi (West Boylston, Mass.) played a through ball for Tim Ennin (East Hartford, Conn.) who ran clear and fired a low shot past the goalkeeper to put the Revs up 2-0, which is how the game would finish. The result could have been different, had goalkeeper Pat Quinn (Manchester, N.H.) not made two important saves at the end of the first half that preserved his fifth shutout of the season.
