FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution’s Academy teams played a total of five games last weekend, posting a 2-0-3 record to ensure that all three sides went unbeaten for the second consecutive week. All three Academy teams first faced Beachside SC on Saturday at Medway High School, before the U-16s and U-14s took on BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday at the same venue.
The U-18s and U-14s each earned four-goal wins over Beachside SC on Saturday, posting 4-0 and 5-1 victories, respectively, while the U-16s played to a 1-1 draw with the same opponent. The U-16s and U-14s then rounded out the weekend by claiming draws with BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday.
The complete list of the weekend’s results is below:
The Under-18s began the weekend with a 4-0 win over Beachside SC on Saturday behind a hat trick from team-leading goalscorer Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.). The Revs went ahead in the 11th minute when Amadu Kunateh (Lynn, Mass.) played a ball through for Arling whose first shot was blocked but the forward made no mistake with the rebound, putting the Revs 1-0 up. The U-18s extended their lead three minutes later as Matt Morana (Shrewsbury, Mass.) carried the ball down the left wing before crossing for Arling to finish from close range and make the score 2-0. The score was 3-0 soon after, as Dylan Mott (Andover, Mass.) capitalized on confusion in the Beachside area to volley into the back of the net for his first goal of the season in the 22nd minute. Arling completed the scoring and his hat trick six minutes after the halftime break as Steven Kilday (Brookline, Mass.) dribbled past two defenders on the left wing before his cross found Arling in the area for his 11th goal of the season to make the final score 4-0. New England goalkeepers Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) and Bill Sinibaldi (Plaistow, N.H.) each played a half as the U-18s recorded their sixth shutout of the season.

One week after scoring six times in a win over New York Soccer Club, the Under-14s earned an impressive 5-1 win over Beachside SC on Saturday, taking their goal tally to 11 in a two-game span. It took just two minutes for the Revs to get on the board, although Beachside equalized just moments later. Elio Firmino (Somerville, Mass.) made the score 1-0 to the Revs after receiving a pass from Gustavo Cassemiro (Framingham, Mass.) just outside the area before curling a low shot into the net. Beachside’s Jake Kooyman levelled the score just three minutes later but the U-14s were back in front before halftime as Cassemiro curled a free kick from 25 yards out around the wall and past the goalkeeper for his team-leading ninth goal of the season, making the score 2-1 New England in the 19th minute. Two goals in the first five minutes of the second half put the game out of reach, as the Revs benefitted from a Kooyman own goal in the 42nd minute before Connor Haskell (Medfield, Mass.) converted a penalty kick after Firmino was fouled in the area three minutes later. New England goalkeeper Ryan Manning (Middleton, Mass.) was shown a red card in the 71st minute for handling the ball outside the area during a Beachside breakaway, but the Revs extended their lead a minute later when substitute Luis Blanco (Pawtucket, R.I.) added a fifth goal to complete the scoring, beating the goalkeeper with a powerful finish after being sent clear by Amos Shapiro-Thompson (Worthington, Mass.).

The U-14s ensured that the Revs’ Academy teams remained unbeaten for the second straight week, playing to a 1-1 draw with BW Gottschee Academy on Sunday. Despite an eventful game – where the Revs recorded 12 shots and goalkeeper Pat Quinn (Manchester, N.H.), playing in place of the suspended Manning, made six saves – it took until the 78th minute for either side to break the deadlock. BW Gottschee found the breakthrough two minutes from time when Nick Kellarakos scored, but the Revs found an equalizer deep into stoppage time to take a point. Firmino played a through ball in to Jonathan Ferreira (Ashland, Mass.), and while the forward’s first attempt was saved, he smashed the rebound into the back of the net in the 82nd minute to make the final score 1-1 and extend the U-14s’ unbeaten streak to 13 games with the club going 11-0-2 in that time.
