FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (August 30, 2023) – The New England Revolution have signed Revolution II goalkeeper Nico Campuzano to a Short-Term Agreement, making him eligible for selection for tonight’s Major League Soccer match between the Revolution and the visiting New York Red Bulls at Gillette Stadium. Watch the 7:30 p.m. free on Apple TV in English and Spanish, or listen on 98.5 The Sports Hub and 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA in Portuguese.
Per 2023 MLS Roster Rules and Regulations, a club may sign a player, age 25 or younger during the league season, from its affiliate (MLS NEXT Pro) to a maximum of four Short-Term Agreements (up to four-day contracts) each season (maximum of 16 days). An individual player may be included on up to four MLS league season match rosters each season, however, that player may appear in no more than two MLS league season matches. An individual player may appear in any number of non-league games during the terms of his four Short-Term Agreements.
With Revolution II this season, Campuzano has recorded 10 starts in MLS NEXT Pro with 32 saves, four shutouts, and only 13 goals against. The six-foot-two Spanish goalkeeper joined New England’s second team in December 2022 after making four appearances with FC Cincinnati 2 the previous season. This marks the second Short-Term Agreement for Campuzano this season after previously getting the call for the March 25 away match at D.C. United.
