FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution and New England Revolution Charitable Foundation will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items to benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank, ahead of the Revs’ home game against Orlando City SC on Saturday night. Non-perishable food donations will be accepted at all gates at Gillette Stadium beginning at 4:30 p.m. through the first 15 minutes of the game, which is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
Fans who donate food at Saturday night’s game will receive a special edition Andrew Farrell photo card, autographed by a Revolution player. The player card will also make up the final quarter of the Revolution Charitable Foundation poster that can be formed by donating items at all four events during the Revolution Charitable Drive Series, which began on May 23 when the Revs hosted D.C. United.
Some of the items fans are encouraged to donate include dried, evaporated and boxed milk; beans; chili; canned meats and fishes; tomato and pasta sauces; canned vegetables and fruits; crackers; whole-grain rice; oatmeal and pasta. A full list of the Greater Boston Food Bank’s most desired items, including general donation guidelines, is available here.
Saturday is just one part of the Revs’ effort to support the Greater Boston Food Bank during the nationwide initiative known as Hunger Action Month, which aims to mobilize the public to take action on the issue of hunger all across America. In addition to the food drive, Revolution players and members of the front office will later volunteer at the Greater Boston Food Bank’s food distribution facility in Boston known as the Yawkey Distribution Center, where they will help with inspect, sort and pack food donations.
