FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution announced today that the club has declined the contract options on nine players. The club has declined the options of goalkeepers Larry Jackson, Joe Nasco and Luis Soffner, defender Jossimar Sanchez, midfielders Shalrie Joseph, Donnie Smith and Alec Sundly as well as forwards Andre Akpan and Tony Taylor. Additionally, defender Stephen McCarthy has not been extended a bona fide contract offer and is now out of contract.

The nine players whose contract options were declined made a total of two appearances for the Revs during the regular season with Smith and Taylor each playing once, as did McCarthy.

These moves, combined with the previously announced trade of Geoffrey Castillion and Dimitry Imbongo to the Colorado Rapids, leave the Revolution roster at 20 players. Included among those 20 players are three that the club continues to negotiate new contracts with: goalkeeper Brad Knighton, defender A.J. Soares and forward Teal Bunbury.

All other players have either had their options exercised or have guaranteed contracts.
