FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (3-4-7; 16 points) defeated Seattle Sounders FC (4-7-1; 13 points), 2-1, at Gillette Stadium on Saturday evening. Lee Nguyen and Femi Hollinger-Janzen were New England’s goal scorers, with the former also contributing an assist. Tonight’s match marked the third consecutive match Nguyen has recorded both a goal and assist. He also moved into sole possession of fourth place on the Revolution’s all-time goal-scoring list with his 37th career tally. Femi netted the game winner – the first of his professional career – in the 80th minute, becoming the leading goal scorer among all 2016 MLS SuperDraft selections. Defender Jose Goncalves also made his 100th career start in his first appearance since May 8 at LA Galaxy, when he suffered a rib injury.


Following the Copa America Centenario break, the Revolution return on Saturday, June 18, when the team travels to Canada for a matchup with Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place. The match marks the Revolution’s first away contest in Canada this season and will kick off at 7:00 p.m. ET. Comcast SportsNet will broadcast the match locally. Revolution Pick up Third Win of 2016

With tonight’s victory, the Revolution are now 3-4-7 (16 pts.) on the season and move to 3-1-4 at Gillette Stadium. With the result, the club is now in seventh place in the Eastern Conference and is level with fourth place Montreal Impact with 16 points.


Femi Scores First Game-Winning Goal

Forward Femi Hollinger-Janzen recorded his second goal of the season in the 80th minute of tonight’s match. The goal is Femi’s first career game-winning goal.


Femi now leads all 2016 MLS SuperDraft picks with two goals, and trails only Seattle’s Jordan Morris (4) in goals among MLS rookies.


Nguyen Records Goal and Assist for Third Consecutive Match

Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen recorded a goal and an assist for the third consecutive match in tonight’s contest, marking the first time Nguyen has accomplished the feat in his career.


It is the seventh time in Nguyen’s career that he has recorded a goal and an assist in the same match. Prior to his current streak, Nguyen last posted a goal and an assist on August 30, 2014 at Toronto.


Nguyen Breaks All-Time Club Penalty Kick Goal Record

With his 24th minute converted penalty attempt, midfielder Lee Nguyen surpassed Shalrie Joseph (12) with the most penalty kick goals in club history with 13.


Nguyen now has 38 career goals, fourth most all-time for the Revolution, trailing Taylor Twellman (101), Steve Ralston (42), and Joe-Max Moore (41).


The goal was also Nguyen’s fourth of the year. He joins Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco, LA Galaxy’s Gyasi Zardes, Real Salt Lake’s Joao Plata, and Montreal Impact’s Dominic Oduro on the list of MLS players who have recorded at least four goals and four assists on the season.


Nguyen Tied for Fifth All-Time in Club History in Assists

With his assist on forward Femi Hollinger-Janzen’s 80th minute goal, midfielder Lee Nguyen now has 29 career assists and is tied with Pat Noonan for the fifth most assists in club history.


Revs Continue Home Success Over Seattle

The Revs have now won four of six matches against the Sounders at Gillette Stadium and possess a 4-1-1 record against the 2009 expansion side.


The last meeting between the two teams at Gillette Stadium was also a Revs victory, a 5-0 triumph on May 11, 2014.


Revolution Make Lineup Changes, Mix Up Starting Formation

The Revs made a pair of lineup changes with defenders José Gonçalves and London Woodberry and midfielder Diego Fagundez earning starts, replacing defenders Samba and Je-Vaughn Watson (on Copa America duty) and midfielder Gershon Koffie (right knee sprain).


Defender Andrew Farrell returned to right back for the first time since MLS Cup 2014 on Dec. 7, 2014.


Defender London Woodberry made his first start at center back since July 18, 2015 against New York City FC.


The Revolution employed a 4-1-4-1 formation for the first time in 2016.


Gonçalves Makes 100th Career MLS Start


With his start in tonight’s contest, defender José Gonçalves recorded his 100th career MLS start, all of which have come as a member of the Revolution. He became the 20th player in club history to make 100 starts in a Revolution jersey. Gonçalves has recorded four goals and four assists in his four years with the Revs.


Je-Vaughn Watson Away with Jamaica for Copa America

Revolution defender Je-Vaughn Watson was unavailable for selection in tonight’s match due to his selection to the Jamaica 23-man roster for Copa America.


Watson played 90 minutes in Jamaica’s 2-1 win over Chile in a friendly on May 27.

6th minute (CHANCE) – Diego Fagundez generates the first scoring chance of the evening for the Revolution. He reels in a pristinely placed pass from Kei Kamara and gets a right-footed shot on net, but Sounders FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei staves it off with a fingertip save.


14th minute (CHANCE) – Another early chance for New England, this one from Juan Agudelo, who corrals a loose ball from Lee Nguyen and fights to get a shot on net through a chaotic scene. Four Seattle defenders end up surrounding Agudelo, whose shot is blocked and swept to safety (WATCH HERE).


24th minute (GOAL) – The Revolution are awarded a penalty kick after a Seattle midfielder Erik Friberg is called for a handball in the box. Lee Nguyen converts on the penalty and equalizes the match at 1-1 (WATCH HERE).


29th minute (SHOT) – Five minutes after Nguyen’s equalizer, Kelyn Rowe seeks a go-ahead goal with an ambitious strike from outside the box. Rowe sends a powerful, curving shot on net, but it sails just wide of the net (WATCH HERE).


36th minute (CHANCE) – Stefan Frei’s goal kick misses its target and sails out of bounds, allowing Diego Fagundez to quickly connect with Kei Kamara on a throw in. 59th minute (SHOT) – Lee Nguyen looks to secure a brace and put the Revolution ahead, but his right-footed shot from distance drifts wide of the net (WATCH HERE).


63rd minute (CHANCE) – Lee Nguyen intercepts Sounders FC midfielder Osvaldo Alonso just outside of Seattle’s 18-yard-box and immediately turns up field for a scoring chance.
