Revolution Forward Juan Agudelo Called in to U.S. Men’s National Team

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution forward Juan Agudelo has been selected to the U.S. Men’s National Team’s roster for its upcoming friendly against New Zealand on Oct. 11 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

This marks Agudelo’s first selection to the U.S. National Team since 2015, when he started in a friendly against Germany on June 10. Earlier in 2015, Agudelo made an appearance as a substitute and scored his third career international goal against Mexico on April 15. Agudelo has collected 19 caps for the United States since making his debut on Nov. 17, 2010, in a friendly against South Africa. He scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute of that match, becoming the youngest player to score for the United States at just 17 years, 359 days old. He is now the second youngest player to score for the United States after Christian Pulisic scored on May 28, 2016, at the age of 17 years, 253 days old.

Agudelo, 23, has recorded six goals and five assists in 22 appearances for the Revolution in MLS play this season. In New England’s five matches across all competitions in the month of September, the forward submitted four goals and two assists, including a brace in the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final against FC Dallas. In his six-year MLS career, Agudelo has totaled 127 appearances with 76 starts and has scored 31 goals with 15 assists for the New York Red Bulls (2010-12), Chivas USA (2012-13), and the New England Revolution (2013, 2015-present).
