FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner will serve the second installment of his two-game suspension for serious foul play on May 25 vs. D.C. United during Wednesday's match against the Philadelphia Union. Turner served the first game of his suspension on June 2 against the LA Galaxy, and was also issued an undisclosed fine for the foul.
Turner was issued a red card in the 56th minute of the May 25 match for a foul on D.C. United forward Wayne Rooney. The MLS Disciplinary Committee issued Turner a two-game suspension for serious foul play, with an additional undisclosed fine. The club filed an appeal following the ruling, but the Disciplinary Committee upheld the suspension and fine.
The fourth-year pro owns 31 career MLS starts and six clean sheets with New England, including four starts this season. Since his last MLS match on May 25, Turner started both of the Revolution’s contests in the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, saving a penalty in the 3-2 win on June 11 at New York Red Bulls, before starting in the 2-1 loss on June 19 at Orlando City SC.
