Revolution Headlines: August 17

Juan Agudelo goal celebration

What a night Saturday was! I spent a lot of the evening lurking around outside the locker room trying to figure out when the game was going to start. Weather aside, the boys got three points. So without further ado, here are your Monday morning headlines recapping the win:

The Revolution battled through almost three hours of weather delays to get their win over Houston. The weather delays weren’t exactly fun for the fans, but we got some cool pictures out of it!

The Boston Herald took advantage of the weather to create this “punny” headline, “Lightning strikes twice for the Revs in second half.”Oh, I see what you did there. The Revs goals came from Goncalves and Agudelo, and the win stretches the Revs unbeaten streak to four games.

The weather delay was certainly an unusual situation for the players. The main concern was staying focused during not just one but two delays. “It’s never easy with what we had to deal with,” said Coach Heaps. “But the message in the locker room was we can’t control that. We have no control of what’s happening out there. But when we step on the field, we can control how we go about the game.”

The Revs certainly did take control of the game. Brad Feldman and Paul Mariner break down the Revolution’s 2-0 win. Paul called the first half “very cagey” but felt the Revs took control in the second half.

As fun as finishing a 7:30 game after midnight was, I hope the weather cooperates from here on out. Shout out to Revolution equipment manager Scott Emmens for having a rain jacket for me to borrow - you da real MVP.
